Does Tapfiliate Pay My Affiliates for Me?

Tapfiliate tracks what your affiliates earn, and today the money moves through your own payment provider. This guide explains what that means for fees, funding, minimum payouts, invoices and tax, and what is coming for automated payouts.

What this guide covers

  • The short answer

  • How payouts work today

  • How a payout actually happens

  • Fees, minimums, invoices and tax

  • Automated payouts: coming soon

The short answer

Not yet. Today Tapfiliate tracks what each affiliate has earned, and you pay them through your own payment provider. You decide when affiliates get paid, how they get paid, and in which currency.

If you would like payouts handled for you, we are working on it. See Automated payouts: coming soon below.

How payouts work today

  • There is no balance to pre-fund. You cannot add funds to Tapfiliate, and Tapfiliate does not hold your money.

  • Tapfiliate charges no payout, currency-exchange or withdrawal fees, because no payment passes through us.

  • Tapfiliate takes no commission or revenue share on the conversions it tracks. There are no setup, tracking or transaction fees either.

  • Your payout volume does not change what you pay us. You pay your subscription, plus any overage and VAT that apply to your account. Whether you pay out $500 or $50,000 to affiliates through your own provider makes no difference to your invoice.

How a payout actually happens

  1. Choose the payout methods your affiliates can pick from, such as PayPal, Wise or bank transfer. Each affiliate then adds their own details.

  2. Approve the commissions your affiliates have earned on the Commissions page. You can also turn on automatic approval in your program's general settings.

  3. Approved commissions build up as balances. A balance is all approved commissions minus the amounts already paid out.

  4. Settle the balances under Payouts > Balances, with Settle All Balances or Settle Balance for one affiliate. This marks the amounts as paid and downloads a CSV file with the amounts and each affiliate's payout details. The file is also kept under Payouts > Payment History.

  5. Send the payments with your payment provider, using that file. You decide the schedule.

Settled by mistake? In Payouts > Payment History you can cancel a payout. The amount goes back to the affiliate's balance.

Fees, minimums, invoices and tax

Transfer and currency fees. These are set by the provider you pay through, not by Tapfiliate. Whether you or your affiliates cover them depends on that provider and on your own program terms.

Minimum payout. Tapfiliate does not set one. When you click Settle All Balances you can set your own minimum payment amount, and you can use the Up to filter to pay only commissions earned before a certain date.

Invoices and tax. Tapfiliate does not create invoices for affiliate payouts and does not handle tax on them. Those are handled by your payment provider or your own tools. You can connect Tapfiliate to accounting tools such as QuickBooks, Xero or FreshBooks through Zapier if you want invoices created as payouts are processed.

Automating the payments yourself. A developer can fetch the balances to pay, send the payments through your payment provider's API, and record them as paid in Tapfiliate.

Automated payouts: coming soon

If you want your affiliate payouts to run automatically, without exporting a file and sending each payment yourself, we are working on it.

Our Hands-free payout service is coming soon on the Scale and Enterprise plans. We will share the details here as soon as it is available.

FAQs

❓Can I top up an account with Tapfiliate so you pay my affiliates from it?

Not today. There is currently no way to add funds to Tapfiliate, and payouts go through your own payment provider. Automated payouts are coming soon, see the section above.

❓Do you take a percentage of my affiliate payouts?

No. When you pay affiliates through your own payment provider, Tapfiliate does not take a percentage of payouts or of tracked conversions. You pay your subscription.

❓Can I set a threshold so affiliates are only paid once they reach a certain amount?

Yes, in two ways. You can set a minimum payment amount when you settle balances, and because you make the payments yourself, you can also state a threshold in your program terms so affiliates know what to expect.
