How to Change or Reset a forgotten Password

Security is key! This guide shows you how to change your password when you’re already logged in and, more importantly, how to safely reset your password if you forget it. We'll also cover the crucial first step: finding your unique Tapfiliate subdomain.

✅ Step 1: Find Your Tapfiliate Domain

Before you can log in or reset anything, you need to know your program's specific address, called a subdomain. Every Tapfiliate program lives on its own unique page (e.g., yourcompany.tapfiliate.com). This is the exact domain you were prompted to create when you first signed up for your account, as part of setting up your Company Profile.

🚨 If your company uses a fully❗custom domain❗(e.g., affiliates.mycompany.com), simply enter that entire address into the Tapfiliate domain field. Tapfiliate will recognize it and take you to the correct login screen.

If you Forgot Your Subdomain

If you don't remember the name you chose for the subdomain:

  • On the domain entry screen, click the "Forgot your subdomain?" link.

    • Enter the email address you use to manage your Tapfiliate account. . Tapfiliate will email you the correct subdomain so you can try logging in again!

✅ Step 2: Reset a Forgotten Password

If you can't log in because you forgot your password, follow these steps after finding your subdomain. You can proceed to submit your password reset request through the program's login page, the link for resetting your password will be located just beneath the email and password fields:

Pro Tip: Use a Password Manager

Save yourself the trouble of forgetting passwords! Use a secure password manager (like 1Password, LastPass, or your browser's manager) to:

  • Generate super strong, unique passwords.

  • Store your passwords safely.

  • Auto-fill your passwords every time you log in to your specific Tapfiliate domain.

The Password Reset Email Did Not Arrive: What to Check

If you asked for a password reset and nothing arrived, work through the checks below in order. Most cases are caused by requesting the reset on the wrong page or with the wrong address, rather than by anything blocking the email.

1. Make sure you are on the right login page.
The reset link lives on your program's own login page (for example yourcompany.tapfiliate.com, or a custom domain such as affiliates.yourcompany.com), not on the main Tapfiliate website. If you don't remember the address, use "Forgot your subdomain?" and enter your account email. The address will be emailed to you.

2. Use the exact email address on the account.
For security, a reset can only be sent to the email address registered on the account. It cannot be sent to a different address. The reset page shows the same confirmation message whatever address you type. A mistyped address, or a second address you also use, will not produce an error, but no email will be sent either. If you are not certain which address the account uses, check this first.

3. Request it once, then wait.
If a reset was requested recently, a new request will not send another email for a while. Requesting it repeatedly does not speed anything up. Look for the first email instead.

4. Search your whole mailbox.
Check Spam, Junk, Promotions and All Mail. Search your mailbox for "Tapfiliate" rather than scrolling your inbox. If your company uses Microsoft 365, ask your IT team to check the Microsoft 365 quarantine and run a message trace. Quarantined mail does not always appear in personal Junk folders.

5. Use the shortcut that fits your role.

  • If you are an affiliate in someone else's program, you don't have to wait for the email. The owner of that program can send you a password reset directly from their dashboard. Contact them through the contact details in your affiliate portal, or through the brand's usual support channel.

  • If you are a program owner and one of your affiliates cannot log in, you can reset it for them (see "Can I reset a password for my affiliate?" below).

6. Still nothing? Contact us.
Write to support@tapfiliate.com from the email address linked to the account, and include the Tapfiliate address of the program you are trying to reach. We can then look into the delivery directly and, where appropriate, issue a direct reset link. That link is time-sensitive and expires after 24 hours, so please use it promptly. Our team works Monday to Friday.

FAQ

❓The reset link expired. What now?

Don't worry! For security, the links expire quickly. Just go back to the login screen and click "Forgot password" again to request a new link.

❓I requested a password reset, but haven't received the email. What should I do?

This is usually a problem with email delivery on your end. Please try the following steps:

  1. Check All Folders: The email may have been pre-sorted. Check your "Spam," "Junk," or "All Mail" folders. Use your inbox's search function to locate messages.- If your Tapfiliate workspace uses Microsoft 365, ask your IT team to check the Microsoft 365 quarantine for the sender email address used by Tapfiliate. Additionally, run a message trace to identify if the email is being held at the tenant level, as quarantined emails may not appear in personal Junk folders.

  2. Authenticate Your Sender Domain: Properly authenticating your sender domain can significantly improve email deliverability. Navigate to White Label settings in Tapfiliate and select Authenticate sender domain. Follow the instructions to add the necessary DNS records (e.g., SPF, DKIM, DMARC) to your domain. Your IT team can assist with this process. Ensure your DNS record includes: include:spf.tapfiliate.com

Note: You cannot use public email services (like Gmail or Yahoo) as the sender's email.

  3. Contact Support: If you have checked all folders and verified your SPF record is correctly set, please contact our support team at support@tapfiliate.com so we can investigate the matter directly.- If the issue persists, request a direct password reset link from Tapfiliate support. Note that this link is time-sensitive and will expire after 24 hours, so use it promptly.

❓Can I reset a password for my affiliate?

Yes, you can. If an affiliate needs help logging into their account, you can quickly launch a message containing a temporary password directly from the platform.

  1. Click on the affiliate's name in the Affiliates page to open the side panel.

  2. Click on the three dots (...) icon at the top of the side panel.

  3. The option to Reset Password is located here.

❓ I can see the login page but my Google sign-in fails. What now?

Open the login page in a normal browser such as Chrome or Safari. Google can block sign-in from browsers built into other apps, for example the in-app browser in Instagram.

❓ Does the SPF and sender domain advice apply to me?

Only if you are a program owner and the problem is with emails Tapfiliate sends on your behalf to your affiliates, from your own sending domain. In that case, go to White Label settings, select Authenticate sender domain, and add the DNS records shown (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), including include:spf.tapfiliate.com. Your IT team can help with this. Note that you cannot use public email services (like Gmail or Yahoo) as the sender's email. This does not apply to a reset email sent to your own personal mailbox, such as a Gmail or Outlook address. There is nothing for you to configure in that case.
